Scene

In order to view or edit 3D assets, a scene can be created using the Scene Editor.

At Cloud Zeta, we leverage OpenUSD (opens in a new tab) to represent and manage 3D scenes. Developed by Pixar Animation Studios, OpenUSD is an open-source, widely adopted framework for 3D scene description. With OpenUSD, your data in Cloud Zeta can seamlessly integrate with a broad range of software and tools (opens in a new tab), expanding interoperability and flexibility.

ℹ️

A scene is sometimes referred to as a "session" in the Cloud Zeta. Naming is hard, so please give us feedback on what you think is the best name for this concept. You can do so in the feedback (opens in a new tab) channel in our Discord.

Scene and 3D Asset

  • Empty Scene: The simplest scene, which contains no assets and waiting for users to add assets into it.
  • Signle Asset Scene: A signle 3D asset can be converted into a 3D scene directly. The name scene is rather technical, originated from "Universal Scene Graph" and it does not imply there is any complete 3D environment associated with it.
  • Composed Scene: Multiple assets and scenes can be composed into one scene, which can in term be composed into other scenes, so on and so forth.
